Vehicle Data Monitoring
Vehicle and Data Monitoring is done using a Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP) unit, which is a cost effective step to improve asset management and productivity on vehicles. The VIP solution provides real time diagnostic data that enables predictive maintenance to be performed and real time, accurate production statistics to be monitored and managed.
Tracking
Tracking and monitoring systems is implemented using RFID technology. RFID tags are attached to assets to allow their location to be known throughout an environment, while making it also possible to monitor different events using the tags. GMSI offer both active and passive tracking solutions, as to be able to provide complete and reliable tracking solutions. Tracking of assets and people leads to better management of resources and improved safety conditions.
Blasting Solutions
We offer blasting solutions for surface as well as underground mining applications, enabling blasting technicians and miners a safe as possible blasting environment. For underground mines we offer a centralized blasting solution which can be controlled from above ground using the PED headend (BlastPED), and for surface mining we offer a remote blasting solution which can initiate blasts as far as 4 km from the blasting site (BlastPED ST) using a radio link.
Mining Communications
GMSI offers communications solutions for implementing 2 way radio (Leaky Feeder), VOIP and Wi-Fi data services for surface or underground mines. Our open standard Wi-Fi wireless communication networks is designed for high bandwidth applications operating in harsh conditions up to the working face, making it suitable to be used for applications like video and tracking applications.
Through Earth Communications
Through earth communications is realised using the PED® Communication System which is based on ultra-low frequency transmission that propagates through rock strata. The PED® System has been in use at mines for over fifteen years and remains the only proven through-the-earth (TTE) communication system in use at mines. It can be used for emergency communication, remote switching of fixed plant equipment such as fans and pumps, and can be used for centralised blasting. It has been installed in over one hundred & fifty coal and metalliferous mines in Australia, USA, Canada, China and Sweden.
